What You Can Do Individually to Be Environmentally Aware

  • Walk
  • Ride your bike
  • Plant trees
  • Put washers on leaky faucets
  • Take shorter showers
  • Turn off water when brushing your teeth
  • Use recycled paper as wrapping paper
  • Recycle magazines by distributing them to others
  • Donate used clothing
  • Start a uniform swap in your Girl Scout Council service unit
  • Keep the thermostat turned down in cold weather and up in warm weather
  • Recycle old jewelry to make new jewelry
  • Repair and donate old toys
  • Ask your parent to carpool
  • Start a community garden

What Your Troop or Group Can Do to Care for the Earth

  • Coordinate an environmental service project
  • Sponsor or set up an exhibit at an environmental fair
  • Plan a minimal-impact camping trip
  • Remember to reduce, reuse and recycle!
